Naked Palette v. Wet N Wild Vanity Palatte

Hey pretty girls,

Check out my latest video in which I show you that you do not have to break the bank in order to have a polished eye shadow or makeup look.  In this video I do one eye with the Vanity palette by Wet N Wild and the other eye with the Naked palette by Urban Decay.  Although the looks are not the exact same, they are so similar that you cannot tell the difference.  By the way, I love Wet N Wild shadows.  They have great pigmentation and they’re inexpensive.  Okay, enough of my talking here....

A Colorful Sunday!

 Today has been awesome. I went to church and received a great Word.


I decided that I wanted to be colorful today. Those who know me know that I love color and bling. So, when I saw this necklace, I had to have it. I really like the mixing of metal and color for the final design. The rest of the things I wore were based on this statement piece.

My makeup was simple, as always. I used the NYX Every Color Imaginable Palette for my eyes. I like it because it has an awesome array of very pigmented colors. My lipstick of choice was my fav MAC Girl About Town lined with MAC Nightmoth liner.

My hair is a twistout that was done on dry hair last night. I twisted my hair, and stretched it with Goody bands. I simply untwisted it and picked it out.

The shoes are by Call it Spring, which I’m guessing is a JCPenney brand. The yellow earrings and ring came from Versona. The watch is Michael Kors, and the bracelet Henri Bendel. By the way, I am in love with Henri Bendel’s pieces. They are so classic and chic. I can’t wait to add more pieces to my collection. The orange bracelet was thrifted or purchased at my local flea market. I really don’t remember.

FOTD: Screaming Green: A Bright Green Eyeshadow Look and A Little Bit About Today's Hair

Screaming Green:

I love bold colors on the eyes and a nude lip.  Today, I did my eye shadow look with a bright green from MAC (lid); it’s called lucky green.  I also used red wine (outer V) from Sephora and  MAC’s shroom (a gorgeous creamy off-white with shimmer; under the brow).  On the lips I used NYX’s Real Nude.  I really like how creamy the NYX round lip glosses are.  If you are interested in those check out cherryculture.com.  You can get them there for a very low price. 

My hair today is a twist out on dry hair.  I misted it with water, massaged jojoba oil into it and did HUGE twists all over.  Before taking them down, I coated my hands with argon oil.

Crescent Moon Manicure

Today, I did a very simple crescent moon manicure. The materials: China Glaze: Sunshine Pop; Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: Hot Magenta, garage sale stickers; Seche Vite Top Coat
1. I polished with Sunshine Pop.
2. I polished with Seche Vite for quick drying.
3. I applied the garage sale stickers where I wanted them.
4. I polished with Hot Magenta.
5. I removed the sticker.
6. I polished with Seche Vite again.

Really Really Red

Today, I wore a fiery red lip and I loved it.  A red lip just makes me feel super grown and sophisticated.  Revlon Really Red that I swatched and reviewed the other day was the color of choice.  My eyes were done with the first Naked palette by Urban Decay. My hair was extra BIG today, just like I like it.  It's a twist out that is a couple days old.

FOTD: A Lunch Date!

So, today I had a lunch date!  My husband and I went to our favorite little restaurant.  He had shrimp and grits and I had a veggie plate: cabbage, collards, green beans, and okra and tomatoes.  I know, yummy right?  Indeed, it was delicious. 

This look was quite simple.  For the eyes I used NYX Grass Pearl Pigment (green on lid), and Loreal HIP Showy (blue on outer V).  For my highlight, I used the lightest color from the Wet N Wild Vanity Palette. I love that thing.  Right above the green I used Sephora's Red Wine (and it is divine!). The lips: MAC, Currant lip liner and Kiss New York's Magenta lipstick, with a clear gloss of course.  On the cheeks: MAC's Ambering Rose.

The armparty for today: from left to right: I think I got the first one from F21(not sure); the second is Ralph Lauren and the third from NY & Co.

A Very Small Makeup Haul: Revlon, Kiss, and NYX

So, I was inspired my a few of my makeup loving friends to try some new lippies and pigments.  These are the lippies and pigments they suggested to me and so far, I really like the colors.  I swatched them so you all could see the true color and pigmentation.

These three lipsticks are by Revlon and they are matte.  From left to right: Smoked Peach, Really Red, and Stormy Pink.  I like that they are not as drying as most matte lippies.  Actually, these are quite creamy.  Although you may have to add a few more swipes to make it as opaque as you like, they are great for the price.  These may not be exact dupes, but they do remind me of some MAC lippies.  Smoked Peach reminds me of Peachstock.  Really Red is reminiscent of Ruby Woo, and Stormy Pink looks like Snob.  Of course these can be purchased at any drugstore.

   

These two lippies were picked up from my local bss.  They are by Kiss Cosmetics. Left to right: Honey Gold and Magenta.  They have a very interesting consistency.  They are not dry, but not as creamy as I'd like for them to be.  Anyway it goes, they are nice colors.  The gold I would not wear alone.  However the magenta I would rock anyday, anytime! LOL!  Overall, they are decent lippies.

Finally, these NYX pigments right here, they are great!  I got these from the local bss too.  From left to right: Very Pink Pearl, Grass Pearl, Yellow Pearl, True Purple Pearl. So, if you are looking for a more inexpensive alternative, these are the ones.

OOTD: It's a Red, White, and Blue Kind of Day

Today has been a great day...nothing blue about it.  Except my OOTD.  When I saw this skirt, I had to have it!  It reminded me of my elementary school days.  I remember some jeans that I loved so much: stonewashed and a hundred little holes all over them.  Do you all remember when that was "the style"?  Now, I don't care whether things are the style.  I simply wear what I like. 

This skirt and shirt came from TJ Maxx.  I guess that you can call me a maxxanista now.  The belt was gifted from one of my besties.  She was tossing it and I said "Girl, give me that belt!" I've wearing it ever since.

My jewelry for the day was simple.  The red swarokski crystal bracelet, I purchased at Michael's (go figure).  The silver beaded one is by Ralph Lauren.  The chnky facets and the watch is Fossil.  My earrings were my favorite accessory today.  I purchased them at the Bronner Brothers Natural Hair Show last year.  I didn't get to go this year. Boohoo!  The necklace is from thecurrentcustom.com.  The ring is from Love Culture and the shoes are Jessica Simpsons.

This outfit was super comfortable!  Can't wait to wear my skirt again! LOL!

These are a few of my favorite things!

Okay so this post includes some staples, some things that I use almost everyday and I love them.

Two Faced Shadow Insurance: I use this stuff almost everyday! It is not as thick as Urban Decay's Primer Potion which I also have. It gets the job done and I have no creasing all day, which is good for me because my eyelids fold over.

Revlon Colorstay Black Eyeliner: I was on a desperate search for an eyeliner that would stay on all day and not smear or run. This is definitely the one. If you ever have this problem give this eyeliner a shot.

Covergirl Lashblast: Okay, so those of you who have been with me since the beginning know that I am a Maybelline Girl and I love Colossal mascara. However, I decided to give Lashblast another try because there is so much hype about it. I love this stuff. It grabs the lashes and puts a nice even coat on it without clumping. Lets just face it; I like it!


Maybelline Define-a-brow in dark brown: It is simply the best thing that I have found to tame my brows. I literally use this everyday!

Maybelline Coverstick in Deep Beige: I bet you all are wondering, what in the heck is she doing with something that is deep beige, considering that I am an NW45 in MAC foundation. I use this stuff to define my brows underneath. It is great for hiding any newly growing hairs, if you don't have time to pluck!

Maybelline Dream Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation: Okay, so it is hard for me to use all of my foundation, because lets face it, I am the product junkie. I have moved on to something new before I finish a product, but I actually finished a bottle of this stuff which is good for me...and this means that I really like it. Get on down girl!

Last but not least, Clinique Perfectly Real Compact Makeup: Great stuff for setting your makeup. I used to be kind of mad with Clinique, because they didn't have a lot of shades for women of color, but they are coming around. They're doing better. Go Clinique!

WHAT KIND OF GIRL ARE YOU? COVERGIRL OR MAYBELLINE

So, I was looking at my makeup stash and it is very clear that I am a Maybelline Girl. For some reason, I have always leaned toward their products...hmmm. I love the new smokey shadows. So, I have several of those. I have always loved their mascaras so I have tried almost all of them. Although, I have not tried the Lash Stiletto yet. Can't wait! I want the Sensational Nearly There lipstick. I went to Wal-mart for it yesterday, but it was not there. Honestly, I think that I have more Maybelline than MAC! I really think that they have awesome products for a great price, more bang for your buck!

Hello Again!!!!!

Hi everyone!

I have really missed blogging quite a bit. I have been so busy. I work a lot. So, that is why I have not been here. I hope to get back to blogging soon and do it at least once a week. There are some products that I am definitely loving right now. So, I will be posting those soon. As well as just some staple products that I wear everyday, because I love them so much. Things I love these days!

Okay so a few things that I really love these days.

Ruby Woo: A red lipstick from MAC. The only down fall: it's matte and can be drying.
Sally Hansen Wet Shine: a top coat that dries in 60 secs. I love this stuff!
A Profusion Shadow Palette: Got this thing from Ross Dress for less. It has great shimmer shadows, if shimmer is your thing, and I only payed 5 bucks!
Rimmel lipstick in Birthday Suit. a brown nude that can be worn everyday. Gotta love that!
Rimmel lipstick in Airy Fairy. a pink nude. really like it too!
